Psy signed to justin bieber records

SINGAPORE - He's the biggest pop music phenom of 2012. And he's coming here.

Korean musician Psy, who was recently credited for having YouTube's most viewed video of all time, with his pop hit, Gangnam Style, is slated to perform a showcase at the Marina Bay Sands' Event Plaza on Saturday (Dec 1). Organisers say his appearance is for a special Marina Bay Sands "Give Back To Singapore" event. Students from Marina Bay Sands' designated charity, O School, a performing arts centre for youth, will participate in the free public performance.

Marina Bay Sands has also said this showcase is free for fans of the official Marina Bay Sands Facebook page (www.facebook.com/marinabaysands) and they are giving away free tickets to the first 4,000 fans who visit the Facebook page to register their interest to attend.

Psy's video became a global sensation when it was released in July this year. Since then, many people around the world have mimicked his Gangnam Style dance, including pop stars and celebrities. It became so popular that another video was later released, sung together with Hyuna, a member of popular K-Pop girl group, 4Minute. Gangnam Style has fetched over 823 million views on YouTube, besting Justin Bieber, who came in second, with over 805 million views. Interestingly, it was recently reported that Psy had signed to Bieber's record label.

When Psy met United Nations' Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon, the latter joked that he had to relinquish his title as "the most famous Korean" to the former. CHRISTOPHER TOH
